Every year the Hozhoni Foundation participates in the Arizona Special Olympics, both the Summer and Winter Games. The individuals' participation in Special Olympics' events allows our consumers to make new friends and show off the skills they have acquired through their practice and commitment to the various sports.

"Let me win, but if I cannot win let me be brave in the attempt." is the Special Olympic oath. Children and adults with special needs have embodied this saying for over 30 years as they participate in year round sports training and athletic competitions. With over 7,000 athletes and 2,500 volunteers, Special Olympics Arizona offers six state level events. These state level events, combined with area and local games, offer opportunities in 22 Olympic style competitions and the chance to experience courage, skill, teamwork and success.

Flagstaff hosts the Winter Games which includes both down-hill and cross-country skiing, speed and figure skating and floor hockey. The other state games include competition in basketball, cheerleading, softball, bocce ball, ambulatory and non-ambulatory track and field events, tennis, weight lifting, swimming, bicycling, soccer and bowling.

Special Olympics works towards eliminating boundaries associated with geography, nationality, political philosophy, gender, age, race and religion.
