The Hozhoni Foundation currently holds only one fundraising event each fall: The Annual Wine-Tasting and Auction Event. The agency began this annual event in an effort to raise the money necessary to cover the cost of the non-funded medical, dental, and therapeutic needs of our consumers with developmental disabilities.
The insurance programs for which some of our consumers are eligible do not fund most dental services. Furthermore, the contract sources that fund the agency for consumer's services do not fund medical, dental, or therapeutic needs. Additionally, even though many of our consumers have jobs, insurance and funding for their long-term care needs, there are various needs that cannot be met without adequate resources from our fund raising activities.
The money raised from each of the previous fundraisers has been spent on preventative and/or corrective dental work and orthodontia, as well as psychiatric and neurological evaluations; massage, music, art, and horticultural therapies; essential nutritional supplements; and counseling services.
Your support of our population through purchase of tickets, the donation of an auction item or a cash donation would be greatly appreciated and allow for the agency to continue to address the medical issues that are so costly and not funded. In previous years, tremendous community support has resulted in a successful fund raising event.
