About Our Extended Services
As the Hozhoni Foundation carries out its mission to enhance the quality of life for the individuals who receive our services, the agency continues to expand and evolve to meet changing needs. To better assist our clients, Hozhoni is involved in fundraising and grant writing on an ongoing basis. Even though core programs are funded through contracts, supplemental medical, dental, and therapy services, adaptive equipment, and environmental enhancements are only achieved through donations, fundraising, and grants.
Unfunded Medical, Dental, Therapeutic, and
Adaptive Equipment Needs
Since 1996, Hozhoni has provided additional financial assistance for clients to receive vital medical, dental, and therapeutic assistance and adaptive equipment that would otherwise not be available to them. With your support, we serve an average of 60 clients per year with additional services totaling up to $70,000 annually.
Project Growth: Promoting Activities for Adults with Limited Ability
Directly supports the areas of greatest need for 110 adults who have considerable physical, emotional and cognitive disabilities and sensory limitations by providing sensory integration activities, fine and gross motor skill and communications development, enhanced adult daily living skills, environmental enhancements, and alternative equipment and supplies.
Expressive Arts Therapy Program
Founded in 1995, this program was introduced as an art therapy program designed for adults with developmental disabilities who expressed an interest in art, as well as for participants who could not be integrated into other programs due to inability to participate in conflict resolution without verbal, physical, or self-abusive behaviors. Participants are given the opportunity to develop social skills using their new, powerful voices rather than negative behaviors.
Modeled after the Chicago Botanical Gardens, the Therapeutic Gardens are designed to provide both a soothing, interactive environment for all consumers at Hozhoni to experience and an opportunity for a smaller group of interested consumers to gain experience in horticulture/garden care.
Project Home Sweet Home
These funds support
the Hozhoni Foundation's group homes with necessary furnishings, house wares,
and general environmental enhancements.
Your support of our population through donations of new or gently used goods or a cash donation would be greatly appreciated and allow for the agency to continue to address the above issues that are costly, necessary, and not otherwise funded. In previous years, tremendous community support has resulted in successful support of these programs.
